Area guide

Living in Liverpool and the Wirral.

Nestled on the Irish Sea, Liverpool has grown into a thriving multicultural city — a hugely desirable place for professionals, students and families to rent or buy.

Diverse properties

Waterfront properties are extremely sought after — many of the dockland buildings and maritime warehouses have been transformed into striking modern apartments with river views. The surrounding boroughs are largely flats and terraces, while the east of the city — Childwall, West Derby and Knotty Ash — offers detached, semi-detached and traditional terraced homes with excellent schools and amenities.

Shopping

Liverpool is one of the largest retail cities in Europe, with over 150 stores in the centre alone. St John's, Clayton Square, Bold Street and Liverpool ONE cover the high street, and Cavern Walks houses designer boutiques including Vivienne Westwood.

Culture

From the Walker Art Gallery to a wealth of museums, Liverpool is unmistakably a cultural European city — and, of course, home of The Beatles and the Cavern Club.

Nightlife & dining

Trendy bars line the iconic Albert Dock. For fine dining, head for Hope Street — home to the multi-award-winning London Carriage Works, alongside the Everyman Theatre and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

Students

With around 70,000 students, Liverpool is one of the UK's most vibrant student cities — drawing renters from across the country and beyond.

Transport

Four principal train stations — Lime Street, Liverpool Central, Moorfields and James Street — serve the city centre and link the wider Merseyside district, with a comprehensive bus network from Queen Square and Paradise Street.
